The day after my Arizona State University Lecture, we stopped by the First Friday festival in Phoenix. I had to make it to the airport, so I wasn’t there for too long. Phoenix is a nice place. I’m excited to stop back through on my suitcase tour. Memories noted below.

A couple of weeks ago, I randomly decided that I wanted to treat my LA customers to homemade ice cream sandwiches. It was simple. Show up with your Johnny Cupcakes clothes on and dessert is on me. Within only a couple days notice, more than 300 people showed up! I even threw on an apron + cap, and got behind the counter to help out. This was a very fun, positive, Johnny Cupcakes community event. It was great to see so many smiles. Thanks to everyone who came out! And thanks Diddy Riese for being so open minded about my last minute meet-up/event idea! I still have to get some pins and JC stuff to some of the helpful staff. Support this delicious establishment!

Arizona, deceptive in spring.
Summer comes, heat strokes it will bring.
After-party hangouts in a customers dorm.
Brought 30 plus people & a snack-attack storm.

Warming my thighs with my laptop & screen.
Chatted with randoms on a late night U-Stream.
Ghost stories told were quite hypnotizing.
We definitely stayed up to see the sun rising.

Tuesday Tips: Business Buddy

When starting a business, it might sound fun at first to go in on it with another person– or even a friend! Why not? They say 2 heads are better than one. And if it’s your pal, things might be super fun & easy breezy. Almost like the bestest of best hangout sessions every day, right? Sometimes it’s best to step back and think about about the pros & cons before you get too excited.

If you go in on a business with someone, it’s a fact that there will always be one person working harder than the other. Someone is going to have more ideas, motivation & dedication. It’s going to be bum-out if you’re staying up until 4:00 am and/or having sleepless nights because you’re overwhelmed with rad ideas, while your business partner(s) is steady watching Scrubs re-runs with their love interest X amount of days a week. You don’t want to lose a friend over it, never-mind all of the time & stress that you put in.

While going in on a business alone, your productivity level will be off the charts! Nobody is holding you back, & it’s up to you whether or not things progress to the next level. Sure, it might be a bit of a challenge, but the outcome is that much more satisfying! You shouldn’t settle for less just for some quick excitement & possible overnight success. Build a strong foundation. Your foundation. Even if it takes more time & energy than you had expected. Just keep in mind, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

While in Los Angeles, I ran into one of my frequent customers, Nick Gonzalez. Nick’s a great dude who travels the world teaching people how to dance. You might have seen him on season’s 1 + 2 of So You Think You Can Dance, as well as one of the dancers in Usher’s Yeah video. Nick’s a solid dude and deserves all the success he’s received. Thanks for the support Nick!
