Johnny Cupcakes is the original unordinary bakeshop.

After starting out of the trunk of a car in 2001, Johnny Cupcakes has grown to be an exclusive, international brand with "faux-bakeries" in Boston, London and Los Angeles. Over the past 10 years, an inspiring community of collectors has formed, prompting customers to camp outside the stores for up to two weeks for limited edition product releases. My Father, The Carpenter

Posted on January 10, 2013

We’re no strangers to burping air compressors, thumping nail guns and the smell of sawdust…heck, I was practically born in it. My dad has been our official handyman since the beginning of the Johnny Cupcakes brand. When I was 19, 20 and 21 years old, each Christmas my dad would build out parts of the attic for me and my new found hobby, Johnny Cupcakes. This was my own little JC workshop and I was ecstatic to have it. My parents were just as ecstatic to not have to trip over t-shirt boxes on their way to the bathroom or kitchen.

Even though I had my own space up in my parents’ draft attic, soon enough t-shirt trails overflowed throughout my folks’ home and I had no choice but to go with the flow and grow. Over the years, as the brand branched out, my dad built out our shops in Hull, Boston, London and Martha’s Vineyard.
This is my dad currently building out more new additions to our Johnny Cupcakes headquarters, as we just acquired a second HQ/warehouse space next door. Rather than going outside to get in through the front doors, we decided to blast right through the white walls for easy access. Can you see where I get my humor from?
