Unless you’ve been living under a rock since June, you know that this was a big summer for London, and therefore for our London t-shirt bakery on Carnaby Street. We had a lot of work to do to prepare for the Olympics crowds that were expected in the city, so my dad and I took a trip across the pond to get the store ready and offer some special events for our customers and fans.
We made some adjustments to the physical space of the store, and also added some seriously large posters explaining the story of our brand and why we don’t sell cupcakes. I guess I expected our international visitors to be pretty confused about that. Most importantly, the London staff and I had some brainstorming sessions about how we could bring the Olympics to JC, and came up with some great games that our customers were able to take part in. We had a ball toss, a dice roll, and of course, some card tricks, all of which left the lucky winners with their choice of new JC designs, gift cards, or cash. We offered these games for a few weeks during the height of the Olympics, and the staff had a great time playing with customers from across the globe.
Thank you to the staff and fans, both old and new, that made the weeks of the Olympics so successful for our store and for London itself. I’m grateful to have had this once in a lifetime opportunity to share my brand and these memories with folks from all over the world, and I hope that everyone got into the Olympic spirit, whether by actually attending the games or by tossing some balls into cupcake tins on Carnaby Street!
