I met Lupe Fiasco a couple years ago during the opening party for the Bathing Ape LA shop (RIP). While most people there were too busy trying to act cool, Lupe came right up to me and introduced himself. He was full of life and aside from me, he was probably the only other sober person there; “Congrats on everything Johnny! From the shadows I’ve been watching your brand grow and am happy for ya! I love that you’re just some random dude who started from nothing.”
Anyways, it seems like all freestyle rap these days is obviously pre-written and not freestyle. Watching this video of Lupe Fiasco is very refreshing. Much respect to this positive, creative pioneer. Keep killing it Lupe!
Less than a year ago I found myself surfing the internet via Chat Roulette. This new website was the coolest concept! Simple. You go on their site, click chat, and you’re instantly video chatting with another random person from around the world. The only downfall to this website is that you have to sift through a lot of peen. Luckily, Chat Roulette has a nifty ‘next’ button, which sometimes gets stuck, ha.
One wintry evening I found myself on this website and met these 3 crafty, animated students who attend Savannah College of Art and Design. We ended up talking for a portion of the evening and I sent them a bundle of free goodies. Months later, I embarked on my Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour and got to meet these 3 lovely people in real life. Meet Sarah, Michael & Rockie.
The day after my SCAD lecture, we all met up to hang. Rockie Nolan is an incredible photographer. Take some time to check out her website. Click here.
