Lecture: Beverly Hills High School

I didn’t get to take too many photos of this lecture. I met some really nice teachers. The class room / presentation room was awesome. Finding the school was a bit tough. Finding our ways through the school was just as tough.

Security gave us a ride on their golf cart!
I know grinding at dances is usually forbidden — looks like schools are cracking down on (skateboard) grinding rails, by simply adding scattered bolts.
Before leaving, Leonard and I had to use the bathroom. Upon entering, I got a little freaked out for a second and I thought that people went pee in a circle, in these round urinals. Turns out they were high-tech sinks. I think I’m going to pretend it was a urinal.

Lecture: Whittier College

My lecture at Whittier College was awesome. The venue actually changed last minute, but we worked it out. Hundreds of people showed up, some drove from long distances to be there.

It was nice to see some familiar faces too!

In addition to the neat gift that Antoine brought me – check out this dope gift that my customer/friend Nate made and brought to the lecture!

Thank you everyone who attended, helped out, Whittier College,  and Lisa + crew for having me. More lecture footage to come.. boy is it a busy week.

Lecture: La Serna High School

Before my Lecture at Whittier College, I stopped by to give a lecture for a few combined classes at La Serna High School. What a beautiful school.

A few things I noticed; So many students look and act older than me. Kids in high school have tattoos and full sleeves. When I was in high school, there was maybe one person with a small tattoo, and they were considered a bad ass for having one. Nobody passes notes anymore, because every single kid has a Blackberry, iPhone, cell phone, etc. – so they text message instead. I had none of the above when I was in high school. Writing and passing notes ruled.

Kellen, Leonard, Callum and Brandon helped out a bunch – thanks guys! A lot of students were automatically going up to Brandon for various questions, because he dresses and looks like he’s a professional/teacher/editor in chief. It was pretty funny.
Also, Kellen was using the bathroom and a bunch of girls were staring at her because of her tattoos. One girl asked, “Are you new here?” hahaha… Thank you Mr. Summers for having me!

The Lost Boys.

Again, I randomly bumped into that Australian kid (Callum) who recognized me the other day. Since he was staying in a hostel and had no friends or transportation in LA, I invited him to hang with my friend and I. We hung out in Santa Monica near where they filmed The Lost Boys. Speaking of The Lost Boys – we all got lost for a good amount of time haha… as much as it sucked, we had a blast. My face hurts from laughing so hard. This complete stranger is now a good friend. We have a pretty similar, odd sense of humor with a positive attitude towards different things in life. Also, we both have a few mutual friends.. and my friend Brandon from NYC who was with us, also had some mutual friends with Callum. Small world!
All three of us walked around and stumbled upon some Pancakes + Bacon cupcakes! They even had real bacon bits on them. My friends are vegan and I was full, so we didn’t get to experience these.
After hanging out in a neat book store for a good hour, we got lost again. Finally we made our way to dinner for some more laughs. I tend to make up fake things that don’t exist on menus.. it’s a little game I like to play. One of the favorite made up things I always ask for, is Horse Bove (or Bouve.) I like to point/wave my fingers at a general area of the menu when they ask me to point out the fake item I asked for, which prolongs the prank and further confuses the waiter/waitress. Another item I’ve asked for, is Smash Cola. Try playing this game, it’s fun.

Friends, food + strangers.

Huge, neat, Neck Face artwork.
My friend Brandon flew in from New York City. Him and Kate picked me up and we went over to Real Food Daily for one of the most amazing brunches I’ve ever had. I would of taken a photo but I couldn’t stop eating.
We talked about food, locations, and had some deep conversations about life with these two random people next to us. They were very nice, and it set a good first impression on Brandon about the people/attitudes of Los Angeles. Very laid back + nice. It’s his first time in LA, I’m actually supposed to go pick him up at Kate’s right now, but I’ve been slacking on blog posts so I’m sneaking this in real quick.
This random kid Callum, from Australia, recognized me and we talked for a bit. He’s got some neat illustrations. Safe travels on tour Callum!
Next door to Real Food Daily, is/was the place that made the amazing cupcakes at my LA grand opening. I’m not sure what exactly happened? I was about to go inside to grab something delicious and it was completely empty inside, with thise note on the window.
Bum out. Boule was an amazing bakery establishment with some of the tastiest treats. If anyone from Boule is reading this, hit me up and let me know if you’re moving to a new location or anything?

These little guys were in the LA shop the other day. One of them was reading a miniature newspaper.
