1jc_lecture_web_flyer_blog

The end of the year is near and I’m wrapping up some lecture series as well as booking new ones. Babson University, Savannah College of Art + Design (SCAD), Northeastern University, and Boston University have been some successful past lectures. I share my knowledge and experience on and with Entrepreneurship, Business Management, Fashion + Design, Marketing, Branding, Product Development, Communication, Economics and more. If I can do all of this with cupcakes, YOU can do it with anything.

I’m going back to Babson, Northeastern, and hitting up Bryant University in the next 2 months. In addition to speaking nationally, I would love to take this internationally too. Either or, if you think it would be fitting to your college/university, contact the appropriate people at your school + contact PR@johnnycupcakes.com with any/all info so we can get the ball rolling!

Next we have Boston’s annual There’s Something In The Cupcake Mix release. Customers wait all year for this special night. Dress warm and to the occasion — this is going to be the best release yet.

3jc_cupcakemix_webflyer_la1
Los Angeles is about to experience their very first There’s Something In The Cupcake Mix release. I know a lot of west coast people are anticipating this night. I’ve already been forewarned about camp outs – nights before (both Boston + L.A.’s releases)

-Each box will be hand numbered.
-Each box will be equipped with different hidden trivia pertaining to the limited monster inside.
-A vanilla frosting scented scratch ‘n’ sniff sticker will be on top of each box.
-When opening up your sealed box, you will have to dust real sprinkled off of your sealed t-shirt.
-We are encouraging every customer to DRESS UP in your best costumes.
-Real cupcakes + beverages will be given out the night of.
-A special gift will be given out to the first 100 customers.
-Photos + video webisodes will be taken at both releases.

…other limited seasonal products will be available in store and online for around $35. — and these will be released with some hoodies and a brand new website in the next couple weeks.

But as far as the 4 collectible There’s Something In The Cupcake Mix products go, you will have to attend the release in either Boston or Los Angeles. I will be at BOTH haha… I’m literally flying out to Los Angeles right after the Boston release. I’m content with feeling like zombie (seeing how it will go along with the theme of the releases.) I guarantee you will have an unforgettable experience.

*Mark your calendars and re-post this info. I will see you there boys and ghouls! :::Insert Tales From The Crypt music here:::

Endless Summer.

1endless-summer
Every year my town has this festival called Endless Summer. Kevin Morris is the mastermind behind it. Great guy with all sorts of creativity and motivation to bring the community together. There was heaps of music, food, crafts, a sandcastle competition, pizza eating contest and lots more.. Thanks a bunch Kevin!

2cupcakes-b-w
Every year we get a little tent and sell off a lot of last pressings of shirts + random sizes. Not only that, but my mom bakes up tons of mini cupcakes and has a free Johnny Cupcakes decorate your own cupcake table for the kids. This year my mom made 600+ cupcakes and they all went!

3toppings
After you pick your cupcake, we had all sorts of toppings, frosting, etc..

4kell-endless-summer
Kelley, Micah, my sister Linsay + my mom worked their butts off during this beautiful day. Keeping the cupcake decorating area tidy – was tough. Thanks for hanging in there guys!

Brendan + Mary.

I recently attended my friend Brendan + Mary’s wedding. Brendan and I worked at a record shop called Newbury Comics back in 2001. I never would of thought I’d meet someone who shared the same passion for Arnold Schwarzenegger movies. Not only was Brendan one of my first customers who bought a shirt out of the trunk of my car, but his band Beyond The Sixth Seal accompanied my old band and I, on our first tour.

I remember when Brendan first met Mary, and how happy he was when she’d come in and visit him at work. It was the same happiness he had when I got him that gigantic Arnold Schwartzenneger coffee table book that one Christmas — so I knew this girl was going to be there for the long run.

Congradulations you two, I have a good feeling about this.

Detention.

Sept-18-2008-detention

My friend showed me this the other day. Hahaha.. It definitely reminds me of some of the many antics the I pulled in middle + high school. One of my best friends and I, dressed up like each other one day in the winter. That wasn’t even the best part — we went to each others classes. Since it was winter, we had each others hats on and scarves wrapped around our faces. It actually worked for about 25-30 minutes, until we were asked to speak. I remember that it was in my friends Japanese class which was taught by Mr. Manson, who was a pretty serious guy.

A few months after he caught me pretending to be one of his students, he got pretty ticked off during another situation. Mr. Manson taught a different class that I was actually in (as a real student.) For some reason I was eating cake right before class started. I don’t know what randomly got into me, but I literally started rubbing cake all over my face. You couldn’t even tell it was me because I had so much cake smeared upon my skin. It took him a couple minutes to notice me after the class had started. Mr. Manson then sternly yelled at me telling me to go to the office. Before I got up to go to the office, I started wiping the cake + frosting off of my face. My teacher bolted over to my side of the classroom, grabbed my my arm… and literally started dragging me out of the class room and down the hall to the office. “DON’T YOU DARE WIPE THAT OFF OF YOUR FACE! I WAN’T THE OFFICE TO SEE WHAT YOU DID!”

I miss high school. Wait, no I don’t.

Dave the sav…ior.

1daves-new-project
When in California + driving around with a buddy of mine, we took a late night pit stop to visit Dave.

You see that LA shop that I just opened? Well, in addition to ALL of my amazing staff/team/employees/family/customers and the great people + companies I worked with; Eric Stoobz(and Jen for making Eric sane during this!) Lucas, Sydney(and the Boston crew for promoting LA, etc.) Matt, Mom, Clark, Ricky, Jameson at UPS, Tom, Linsay, Dobi’s crew, David Green, Kelley, ROBERT!!(and his crew of talented tradesman!) Kailo, Rich, Carlson, Lana, Jaimie, Katheryn, Jonn, Vanessa, Emma, Kellen + her new LA team(as well as her friends + roommate) – the list goes on and on! But in addition that list of caring, helpful, well rounded people in whom I wouldn’t be here without — Dave went above and beyond what he was hired to do for me. Constant, constant leg work that was not necessary, was done with full force. Thank you for helping me orchestrate this unpredictable project!

Anyways, above is Dave explaining his passion for his newest VW project. He’s a mastermind at refurnishing antique VW’s.

…He’s also a sucker for ANY sort of Volkswagen knick-knacks and 1950’s what-have-yous…

My friend and I were talking about how much we wanted to be like Dave when we grow up. If I was in middle school still and we had to do projects on what we wanted to be when we grow up, I would totally do a project on Dave.

What is Dave? Well, in addition to his many many talents, Dave is a kind, happy, independent man. Thanks again Dave + everyone who was involved. We should all be proud of ourselves for successfully opening a new shop with no college education. Here’s to the past, present, and future!

I love you guys!

Oak Boston.

1oak-sign
Welcome to Oak. Located just around the corner from my Newbury Street shop, at 31 Gloucester Street in Boston.

2oak-inside
Walking in here is very inspiring. This cozy shop is chock-full of hand made crafts from around the world. I picked up a handful of early birthday and Christmas presents this weekend. There were far too many neat items to take photos of, so you’ll just have to mosey on in for yourself!

3oak-toys-2
I used to sell some awesome Johnny Cupcakes super hero stuffed toys, back in the day. Some of these monsters reminded me of them but with a hint of Super Mario Brothers styling. (I always hated those squids that chased you in the water levels of Super Mario Brothers.)

4oak-bookss
And for those aspiring craftsters + entrepreneurs, Oak has got the perfect learning tools for you – so get up off your bum bum and create something!

5oak-keara
Meet Keara (holding up a bacon + eggs, pizza, and popcorn scarf.) I used to see this little girl(well, my size) at hardcore shows all the time when I was younger. She was reppin bangs before it was the cool thing to do. Keara has now moved on to be quite the crafty business owner! And if anyone happens to be hanging out near her shop during the next release / line – please be sure to not block her shop – and if you can, pop inside to pick up a neat gift for you or yours! And tell em’ that Johnny Cupcakes sent ya!
