This is by far one of my favorite toys growing up. Not only did I want to be like Macaulay Culkin from Home Alone, but I was the prank master and I needed this to gain ultimate prank power! Maybe this is when my minor case of insomnia started? All those late night phone calls. Some people say ‘crank calls’ and some say ‘prank calls’ – I still don’t know the correct way of saying it. Whatever it was, it left massive amounts of mischievous memories! The day I stopped using it, was when my friend and I got into trouble with this one person we pranked. We use to dial random numbers all the time. One night we happened to get some random detective. Of course we didn’t believe this guy who was telling us not to call back because he’s a detective, and that we’re going to get in trouble with the police – that’s the oldest trick in the book. Until one day the police and said detective tracked down our numbers (even with *67 being used), and they came looking for us. We got let off easy because of our young young age. I kinda feel bad for the guy, we would call him at the craziest hours of the night all the time. Oh well, I guess that’s childhood at some of its finest moments.
My friends Rob and photographer-chef-skateboard-superstar Iris, came by the shop this weekend. Robs daughter and I performed some intense magic tricks for each other. She’s awesome. I want to teach my future kid to become a master of magic + illusions.
Rob’s a funny guy, chock full of jokes, great ideas, volley ball super powers, creativity and random factoids from all around the world. When he’s not fishing, traveling or fine dining – Rob freelances for various magazines, websites and brands. He just got back from Portland, Oregon. After 3 days of a Survivor esq interviewing process, there’s a possibility he might be working for a division of the amazing Wieden + Kennedy. Lets keep our fingers crossed!
Meet a small portion of The JCK. There’s a TON more than this. From what I’m told, I guess these loyal customers organized a huge crew of people(and growing) at their school, named The JCK (The Johnny Cupcakes Kids). They all rep their collectible baked goods at school together, nearly every day of the week. It’s always nice running into these excited individuals. I’m honored to have such loyal fans – Thanks a ton guys!
I hung out and worked at the Boston / Newbury Street shop this past weekend. I met a ton of awesome, down to earth customers / visitors / travelers. I weaved through massive amounts of traffic and pedestrians, ate great sandwiches, bought some new albums and movies, and tried not to freeze my bum off.
Check out this customers highly sought after skyline shirt. A lot of people have been asking about this now out of print t-shirt. We will be getting in a new Boston skyline shirt sometime this month, so sit tight.
I decided not to make a big deal / release – out of the new shirts. There’s a million things going on at the Johnny Cupcakes headquarters, so I wouldn’t be able to make it as fun and memorable as I’d like.
The decision has been made to randomly release new t-shirts in the Boston location between tomorrow and next weekend, during random days, or as shipments of freshly baked products arrive.
Everything will be available online and in Boston on or by Saturday April 5th. But like I said, Boston will get their batch of new shirts early, yet randomly sprinkled in during different days throughout the next week.
You might have to read this a few more times to not be confused.
I can’t stop eating these. Seriously. Every time I’m finished picking all the chips out of my teeth, my hand magnetically dives right back in that bag of goodness.
Speaking of goodness, I will be releasing a batch of new shirts on Saturday April 5th in Boston at 1:00 pm. They should be up online that weekend as well. Mark your calendars! And don’t forget to pick up some other t-shirts before they get phased out of rotation.
Just did a fun photoshoot with a group full of great people. Lots of dancing, laughing and chit chatting. Don’t quote me just yet, but I am trying my hardest to get these 6 new shirts up online and instore Saturday. Like I said, don’t quote me just yet, but I will have a better idea sometime tomorrow.
This wonderful weather is making me very happy! There wasn’t a cloud in sight. I fed heaps of birds in my yard, watered my plants and ate some Enviro Kidz Banana Waffles (with the gorilla on the package.) Afterwards, I strolled down the street to get my ocean breeze on. It felt as if I was in some Disney movie. Hull High School! I use to get stuffed in lockers and picked on during the one year I went here. This windmill looks like the Mercedes logo. Some company should make ye olde fashioned windmill tops to replace ones like this. I don’t mind this one, but I was just thinking…that might be a nice, classic idea. One of my best friends, Andie, gave me a semi-sneak attack visit with his lady friend Nicole. Andie and I have been buddies for 6+ years. We met when I was touring with my band at the time, through North Carolina. I had this giant 3-man sling shot that would shoot things up to 70 miles an hour, and up to 300 yards. Every time we rolled through North Carolina, it was tradition to take my 3-man sligshot and have a giant food fight/target practice at some local grocery shop parking lot. We even had Roman Candle fights too! I have some videos somewhere, that I’ll put up on youtube when I have some spare time and patience. Andie bought some of my first shirts back in the day. He did my first tradeshow with me before I decided not to do those anymore. Anytime we get together our faces actually hurts from laughing so much. We all slept in my living room and tried going to sleep, but talked about memories, stories and ended up literally laughing until 7am. You know that feeling you get behind your ears when you try blowing up a water balloon or when you laugh a bunch when eating sour candy? It’s like a drilling feeling… well we had that time 10. Poor Nicole couldn’t sleep for the life of her (sorry Nicole!). I don’t think Andie and I have ever been in an argument? Hopefull I’ll see more of him soon. Love you dude!
The next night we ended up meeting up with Erin and Matt for some friendly games of Pool at Jillians in Boston. After many shirley temples, I thought it would be fun to take some weird head shaking action photos. Old man Franky fun-face. The couple from Beetlejuice when they stretch their faces out near the end. Woah, I look like Julius, the Paul Frank monkey.
