Santa’s Helpers

Nov-30-2007-Santas

Due to the overwhelming amount of online orders – massive castles and forts were built at the Johnny Cupcakes headquarters. Above is a photo that only shows a small portion of the village that was created. Sorry for the minor shipping delay, we weren’t expecting to get as slammed as we did. You’re shirts are safe and sound, hang in there – they’re coming your way soon!

Mmmm…Donuts…

Nov-28-2007-Mmmmm

My friends that I’ve been staying with for the past few days, live right off of Telegraph Street in Berkeley, CA. I go to sleep dreaming about donuts every night. I wake up thinking about donuts every night. King Pin Donuts is nearby, so we get wafts of magical scented, homemade donuts – breezing its way on through the windows and walls. The owner works almost 20 hours a day, hand making these scrumptious creations, non-stop. You can see it all happen if you visit their shop, which is right off of Telegraph Street, on Durant Ave. I’m having a hard time typing this without eating my now donut scented keyboard.

The Veggie Grill

Nov-28-2007-the-veggie

A few days back, when I was in Orange County, my friends took me to The Veggie Grill. I ordered the Santa Fe Crispy Chicken equipped with a side of sweet potato fries. I had them add this cashew cheese stuff to my sandwich too. I don’t understand how something so amazingly delicious, tastes just as good, and just as authentic as the real thing! And it’s so much better for you too(at least that’s what they say). I don’t know if I could go vegan for a few reasons. There are only a hand full of vegan spots back home, I have too many sneakers(some have leather, etc..), I am addicted to chocolate and cheese, and in the summer there’s nothing like having barbeques and grilling up some very well done cheeseburgers. I like being able to taste that char char. I love seafood too. However – all of these vegan spots my friends have been introducing me to, seem to have the ability(and more), to replicate just about anything. We ate here twice in the little time spent in that area of California. I have a small stomach(at least the inside of it), so I usually split things with people, or I try to order form the kids menu at places. However, I ate ALL of my meal(s) here, and I was even picking at my crumbs!

I can see a lot more people becoming vegan or vegetarian in the future. Between people starting healthier habits, and mother nature striking down upon us and the animals. Also, those hormones that get pumped into a lot of animals in which we get meat and milk from – is pretty freaky. I’m not being perverted or anything, just chit chatting about some day to day facts and observations. What’s up with all these poor young girls getting crazy back problems because their ta-ta’s are growing heaps? Every year they grow bigger, and on younger people. I’m not much of a boob-guy, so I don’t really care about that stuff. I just see myself selling more girls xl shirts to these hormone victims that have been zapped by the ta-ta fairy quite a few times. Again, boobs are cool and all, I was just making a simple observation. How funny would it be if it affected guys? All these dudes would have to buy bigger and baggier pants. Viagra would prolly go out of business. Jnco’s, UFO’s, Skidz, and MC Hammer pants would be back in business!

Anyways, be careful what you eat!

Juxtapoz.

Nov-26-2007-juxtapoz

Juxtapoz Magazine featured a couple of my products in their most recent issue. Regardless, you should check out their magazine. It’s one of the finest and oldest art magazines out there – that are still going full force. Jam packed with world wide artist, designers and more. Reading this magazine is very inspiring.

I love magazines. Going into Borders or Barnes and Nobles always puts me in the most mellow mood(next to food shopping of course). I like going to the magazine section, grabbing 10 or so magazines, purchasing a mint hot chocolate with whipped cream, and hanging out in their store(s). The whole atmosphere, Christmas/dentist music, seeing people comfortably moseying around – makes me zone out. I like the smell of books and magazines too. And stickers(not that they sell stickers, but I’m just saying…)

Vietnamese post-Thanksgiving

Nov-26-2007-Vietna

My friends cousins had us over for an after Thanksgiving the other day. While everyone was playing the age olde’ drinking games, JT was yelling out random words when everyone would get loud. I guess you’d have to be there, but I almost peed my pants a handful of times. Thank you Trung and little Vee for the great dinner, it was just what I needed after my flight! Hopefully the cigarette police don’t get Nam before he goes to school for recording. And hopefully the weirdo go-kart man doesn’t steal Vy’s brand new bmw.

Temporary office.

Nov-26-2007-temporary-office

Hanging out in Berkeley, California for the week. For a portion of each day, i’ll be chipping away at e-mails, blog posts, baking up new ideas and what not. I kind of like this crafty set up! This could be a new trend for people that work from home. Especially for all those lovely housewives! Go get your iron boards.

The Wheel Of Life

Nov-25-2007-the-wheel

Meet Victor. He’s probably one of the most potent characters i’ve ever met. Once you walk into his restaurant, he immediately greets you, shakes your hand, and/or hugs you. “Welcome home!” and “Vegan power!” are the two words you’ll hear him say quite a few times. Jam packed with smiles, high energy, and laughter – he does a great job showing his love for his restaurant, and most importantly – his customers. If you get a chance to visit Irvine/Orange County, California, and you’re hungry or sad, I highly suggest that you go meet Victor at the The Wheel Of Life. He’ll put a smile on your face and fill up your belly with healthy, tasty food. Be sure to order the crispy vegan chicken with extra hot sauce!

Go Karts!

Nov-25-2007-Go-karts

I’ve only been on go karts once, at this ghetto place in Hanover, Massachusetts called Star Land. It use to be the cool place to go to when everyone first got their license. Early this evening, we went to a place in Irvine, CA called Boomers. The go karts were only six dollars, and I guess you get what you pay for. It was still a nice little boost of fun. I just wish you were able to bump people and go super fast. There was this one part in the course that smelt like a wet version of Clifford the red dog, or a wet Falkor from The Never Ending Story. The arcade at Boomers was huge, but lacked of good video games. If I was a little kid, I’d have a blast… But I’m a big kid who appreciates pinball machines and older video games. They had the weakest skee ball machines and not even one pinball machine. Blasphemy!
